THIS IS ME

.

Hi, I'm Trudi - I've chosen to use the English nickname version of my name because it's easier to relate to and remember for everybody. I'm from Norway, I'm in my thirties, and I'm a piano teacher by profession. I've been interested in interior decoration my whole adult life - from the time I bought my first interior decoration magazine, which was House and Garden.

I started my first interior decoration blog in March 2008. At the time, I had barely seen a blog! The main goal in the beginning was to document my own makeovers in my rental apartment. With time, The Deco Detective evolved into what it is today; a mix of my own projects and things I find on the web.

On August 17. 2009, I moved to a new blog home; beauty comma. This blog is going to be about everything I find beautiful in life - interior design, photography, art, my beloved Argentine tango...

Things I want to do in the near future: practice my photographing, experiment with drawing and generally try to carry out more of my creative ideas.

PHILOSOPHY

My blog is a reflection of everything I find beautiful and important.

First and foremost: beautiful interior design should be for everyone. Lots of the images we see, are from homes that belong to people who are well off. I often blog these interiors, but I always try to find inspiration for budget decorators like myself.

I've discovered that people often suffer when making the things we love to buy. A harsh example of this is how children are treated in the Asian rug industry. Lots of adults also work under poor conditions and with low wages. And the manufacturing of stuff isn't always as eco friendly as we'd like it to be, either... So I've decided that if I blog about specific home decoration companies, they should always have a strong social profile regarding the above.

Everyone who reads interior design blogs and magazines is beginning to appreciate how beautiful, cool and personal our homes can become by decorating with vintage, thrifted and flea market finds. This is also something I feel strongly about - simply because it's more eco friendly to take care of the things that are already made instead of throwing away and buying new.

I only blog what I love. I hope you'll love what I blog!
